자전거경기장은 올림픽공원 내 주입로의 서쪽에 위치하며 동쪽에는 역도경기장이 있다. 형태는 자전거경기장의 기본인 피스타가 이루는 곡선과 관객을 위한 적정한 가시거리 확보라는 측면을 고려, 타원형을 이루어 타경기장과 다른 생동감이 있는 볼륨을 지닌다. 다른 경기장과의 조화를 고려하여 수평선을 살리되 은회색 불소코팅 알루미늄판넬을 사용하여 은둔의 이미지를 강하게 부각시켰다.
The velodrome is located in the west of main road in Olympic Park, flanked by a Weight-lifting Gymnasium. Due to its shape, the Velodrome creates a feeling of lively volume unlike other Olympic facilities. The oval figure of this cycling race track is determined by PISTA that make a circular line, and by the necessity of securing an appropriate for the spectator’s field of vision. A horizontal line is specially emphasized in consideration of matching other facilities visually. At the same time, the use of material, silver-gray fluorine-coated aluminum, symbolizes the image of the silver wheel of a bicycle.
