수영경기장은 올림픽 공원 내의 5개 경기장 중 맨 우측에 위치하고 있다. 수평선을 강조하며 둥근 형태를 취하는 평면과 기능에 부합된 단면으로 계획되어 잇다. 주요시설은 경영풀과 다이빙풀, 연습풀로 되어 있다. 경영풀은 싱크로 나이즈드 경기를 위한 움직이는 바닥인 ‘트플로어시스템’을 채택하여 수심을 0m~3m까지 조절가능하게 하여 올림픽 후 유아나 장애자용으로 사용가능하게 하였으며 에너지 절약 게획으로 ‘풀커버시스템’을 도입하여 경기시와 연습시의 내무체적을 조절함으로써 유지관리비를 절감하고 있다.
Design features are characterized by a combination of lines and curves in plan and successful by a uniqueness in section. Other design ideas are expressed in the building, mainly in a way of achieving harmony in scale, and visual stability and legibility. One of great merits of this building is a movable floor. This movable floor is designed, using Two-Floor System, to adjust the level of pool for different purposes, either 0 meter or 3 meters below the floor level. Pool Cover System is another design idea for saving energy: change the inner volume in accordance with the volume required either game or for just practicing.
